Thoughts

My cousin Guy was always good company, full of jokes. He was so well informed about nature, birds and so much more... He was always full of fascinating information on a wide range of topics. For many years he wrote travel articles for newspapers and magazines. He was one of the first to fly on Concorde and write about it. He wrote travel guides to Eire, Norway and much more, and lectured on various topics on many cruises... When we were youngsters we would enjoy fishing and especially hunting hares at Glenquaich (in central Perthshire). Also pigeons at Lemlair (NE Scotland) -- unbeknown to Grandpa McCallum, who didn't want to disturb or upset the huge flock of pigeons who were eating all his grain! He was the only person I ever met who always wanted to park his spectacles on his eyebrows -- but they never stayed there! I am so glad to have visited him several times in the last few years. Charlotte and family were marvellous at looking after him for years. We shall certainly miss him, but remember him.

And then you were gone Pop Pops! It happened so swiftly and I am so sorry I didn’t make it to say goodbye. Thank you so much for the hours of company you gave me, especially on the difficult days when it was easy for tempers to fray. Thank you for the live, hugs and laughs. I’ll miss you more than you will ever know xxxx

Guy was so much a part of my mothers life for the last 16 years and so much a part of our family. Such a gentle soul, I see that many people felt this way about Guy. He was with us in Toronto, came up north to my friends cottage, travelled to Portugal and Mexico, part of all of our family holidays and we all loved him. He made my mother so happy . We have so many friends in Canada who really enjoyed his company and will miss him dearly. Too fast to loose someone like him, health issues and COVID robbed him of precious time that he could have spent with my mum and us. Love him dearly and love all the gentleness about him and caring for each little creature and flower. He loved to pick my mum a bunch of wild flowers and grasses here in Canada and in Mexico. XXXXXX
